31 Days of Autumn Bliss {Day 20}: <br>Get Cozy with Knits!

Pottery Barn

Greetings friends of The Inspired Room!

It’s me, Kate a.k.aCentsational Girl! I’m tickled pink to be here today, guesting for one of my favorite bloggers on the planet! Ms. Melissa is off speaking at Relevant this week, so I get to be here for her Day 20 of 31 Days of Autumn Bliss. Today’s topic? Get Cozy With Knits!

To me, the best kind of autumn knits come in two flavors: scarves and throw blankies. Going out? Wrap your colorful scarf around your neck and grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte. Staying in? Get cuddly with a blanket and your loved ones on the sofa and watch some classic movies.

Here’s a few of my latest finds that are sure to keep you warm in style!

“Scarves are an essential piece to your fall/winter wardrobe! They are a versatile and inexpensive way to update your look, while keeping you warm with out adding the unflattering bulk of a big sweater. Take any outfit up a notch or two, by just finishing it off with a scarf. Scarves can take you from a football game to a holiday party, and one or two will get you though the fall and winter months!” ~ Jennifer Rosson of Style Your Life

Ruffles, stripes, fringe and faux fur are in!

Here are some selections under $60, including cashmere.

Thank you SO much, Kate, for giving me a day off to travel to Relevant! LOVE this post, fall is THE most cozy season of all. You totally are sensational!

Do you put cozy throws on your chairs and sofas for Fall?

I have a pom pom throw like the one in the first picture and I love it! Super cozy.

  1. I love Kate!!! And there are fuzzy blankets all over my house and me once it starts to turn cooler. Is it wrong to say I have two on right now?? Lol!

  2. OMG. I love these kinds of posts – even though I have way too many throws and sweaters! Fall definitely seems to bring my family closer with all the fabulous soup sharing, snuggled up movie nights and BAKING! (Although I’m not sure how much closer we can get since we’re very involved. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?)

Thank you Melissa. Please keep these posts coming, they’re awesome!

  3. I could use a nice, new scarf!! Think I’ll invest in one this winter :) The only one I own is a plain ‘ol gray one from Gap (from ions ago when I worked there). Need something more stylish!! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Great post Kate! Love all the cozy throws. We have a few around our house. Love all the new scarfs too. I love how easy it is to dress up a plain outfit with just the addition of a scarf.

  5. Franki Parde says:

Has anyone ever made pillows out of old sweaters?? I recently saw cable knit pillows that were just dynamite..but no instructions…franki

  6. now I want to put a blanket on every piece of furniture I own! Lovely photos.

  7. Nothing says warm and cozy like an evening cuddling under a soft, warm blanket or throw. And in winter, a scarf is part of my daily wardrobe! Thanks for the great resources.

  8. Hi Kate! Love all the selections….I love that rosette throw! I wear a scarf pretty much every day….and I have about 30 of them. Crazy, I know! So maybe I take it a little to far. :)

  9. Well, now I’m totally coveting that cashmere scarf from Target…save up my fun money I guess! :-) We always have cozy throws around our house because I’m always cold. However, I’m a sucker for anything cableknit. LOVE! This was a great, cozy post (loved your comment about scarf/pumpkin spice latte vs. cozy blanket and movies!)!

  10. Love warm & cozy! Throws are are a quick and easy update that really make a big difference for very little money. And I think I might have a scarf addiction. I’m especially loving all the ruffled ones that are popular now!

  11. I enjoyed getting to visit 2 of my favorite style setters in one blog!

I love throws and scarves and use them from mid-September through March! There appear to be some great values out there on scarves, I need to go shopping.

  12. I love the cable knit throws! I remember my favorite “comfy” item last year was West Elm’s cable knit throw pillows – they were darling and perfect for fall. Those baby pics are PRECIOUS!
P.S. I’m hosting a Marc Jacobs jewelry give away! I hope you’ll stop by! http://sfair.blogspot.com/2010/10/marc-jacobs-give-away.html

  13. I’m working up the energy to crochet a throw I saw in a needlework magazine. It’s very beautiful but very, very complicated. I do love that pom-pom throw. Anthropologie has a gorgeous scarf that I’m longing for and Etsy has lots of beautiful scarves also. There’s a designer in Sweden (I think) called Gudrun Sjoden that has those terrific complicated knit designs that are traditionally Scandanavian.

    Thanks for the warm stuff.

  14. I love all of this! They all make me want to sit down in front of a warm fire, sipping a latte while cozying up under the Rosette throw. Everything is so lovely!

  15. Thanks for the inspiration! I am looking for a throw to cover a stain on my couch. However, I might pull out one of my Great-grandmother’s crocheted blankets, since they appear instyle again. Hadn’t even thought to use one until now.

  16. Love to wrap up in a throw to cozy up! You have some great examples to think about. Kathysue

  17. I love love love scarves! Especially all of the ones that you posted above!

  18. I’m a fan of that houndstooth throw, and I need to get some cute scarves as accessories for me. Love the ruffly ones. :) Cute guest post, Kate!

  19. What a well written, designed and informative post! I especially love the baby knits.

  20. Wow, that “Josephine Scarf” is *amazing*!! ~K

  21. Throws and babies, two of my favorite things!!

  22. I love having throws around the house. I love scarves too. Since we moved to FL I don’t always wear a heavy coat but adding a cozy scarf can be all you need.

  23. Nice post! The pom pom throw and the josephine scarf are my favs! That last little baby is so adorable!

  24. Love the pom pom throw! Also, all the splurge scarves.

  25. I love it! I have cozy blankets all over our house! I love snuggling up under one alone to read a good book or with my hubby to talk quietly and watch a good movie. And then there are the times I snuggle under one with my children to read them bedtime stories…so so necessary in Autumn! Yay!

  26. Makes me want to run out and get a few new throws…great post…
    Love the knitted items….cute pictures.

  27. Such a great post. Scarves are so fun…and that quote it right…it’s a great alternative to a bulky jacket. The baby knits are adorable, too!

  28. Well, given that I sell fabulous, snuggly blankets in my shop, OF COURSE my home is positively strewn with the things, both fluffy mohair (in bright red and pink!) from Ireland and handcrocheted wool via my Mum. I love blankets with a deep and undying passion – originally Natural History was going to be solely a blanket shop, in fact.

As for scarves, I’m back to wearing pashminas as scarves just now – I haven’t found anything in the shops in Oxford to really make me leap for joy just yet. I’m pregnant and really feeling the cold this year though, so I must get myself something cosy and chic to keep me warm when I’m out.

  29. Love, love it.Beautiful!!! Brr it’s cold out here!Have just linked this post to my new blog http://moderncountrylady.blogspot.com/ as I love knitting and have just done a post about it- check it out if you want to !!

  30. I love all of the cozy texture in this post! (I have that LOFT scarf and wore it today, so I had to smile when I read this post).

  31. Snuggling up with a hot chocolate with a throw and scarf on, skimping on the heat. Life is good. Thanks for stopping by!

  32. Love the ruffled scarves! I must get one to wear to Blissdom in January;-)

Nice to “see” you over here CG!

  33. Hi, I found you through Kate’s blog. I’ll be checking in on your blog often. My daughter is at Relevant also. I will have to ask her if she met you.

  34. I especially love the pom pom throw, and as for the baby knits, I’m crazy about those!! I’ve got two new grandbabies coming in 2011!
