Hey friends! Last week I shared the most recent little updates to our master bathroom, including the new paint, accessories and a nifty new Bluetooth speaker and bathroom fan by Homewerks that we installed in place of an older fan. If you missed it, you can see the post here.
As much as I love how fresh and clean our bathroom feels with such a simple quick update, I actually can’t believe how much more I enjoy the room now that we can easily play music while we are getting ready for the day or for bed. I only tell you about home products I think you’ll like and this is one of those times, trust me. This is cool. Not only because it pulls the steam out of your bathroom, but it changes how you feel about your room!
I share in my book about how important the senses are to our experience at home. This little gadget is a prime example of how the senses can help transform a room. I didn’t have to remodel my whole bathroom (although, that would have been wonderful of course). I just needed a fresh coat of paint and some music to give me the sense that I could relax in this room and enjoy being in it.
Seriously, it’s been a game changer. While you can play music just through your phone or other device, with this speaker you can hear the music over your running bath water! There are no gadgets cluttering up the counter, no cords dangling or stealing your hair dryer’s outlet space, nothing that will fall on the floor and break or get wet and electrocute anyone.
With a Bluetooth enabled phone or computer or iPad connected wirelessly up to 30 feet away, you can play your favorite songs or listen to an interesting podcast wirelessly while you brush your teeth! That’s my kind of multi-tasking.

This is the line in your blog that makes me want to run our and purchase this fan…we can easily play music while we are getting ready for the day or for bed. My husband and I love music, so many kinds really. To be able to listen to Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Matthew West, Steven Curtis Chapman or any one of the many artists we love while starting our day, all without the worry of our phone or tablet getting wet or being in that moist environment that is the bathroom, absolutely priceless! I have been blessed to spend more time with my seventeen year old daughter. She is a busy girl so I normally just get the typical parent time. In June she had surgery on both feet. Yes both. Two cast. She is out of them now and healing well! Praise! Not that I would put her through that again but I wouldn’t take anything in place of the special time we have had together. All of that to say…she LOVES the band 21 Pilots. We listen to them a lot!!! Tear My Heart has become one of my favorite songs as well as many others they play. My heart will likely be heavy a lot this upcoming school year since she is a senior and planning her future already. I will have lots of prayer time.

Hmmmm … that would be hard to choose, and so much depends on whether I want to be soothed or whether I need to get moving (as in cleaning). We had a cassette tape once with the Pachelbel Canon with sounds of the sea in the background. May have been titled Pachelbel by the Sea. I would definitely choose that for soothing.

I have two favorite songs that sustained me through a difficult trial. One Saturday evening I listened to two songs, over and over…Held by Natalie Grant and Jesus Bring the Rain by Mercy Me. Little did I know that the next morning my husband’s heart would stop beating as he jogged with his best friend. He had a cardiac arrest at 46 and was dead for 30 minutes. To make a long story short, my husband received a miraculous healing touch and his brain and heart were completely restored on the third day. Those two songs sustained me, as they rang through my spirit, knowing that the Lord would hold me no matter what happened, and that even as the rains come in our lives we can praise Him through it all. :)

I usually ask my husband to find something for me and then I listen to his selections over and over because I don’t want to bother to find something else. My bathroom fan is so loud I don’t bother with music. This would be efinitely an improvement.
I love “A Simple Verse” by our son, Zach Vinson. He’s a musician and one of the lines is “I’m gone, but I’m not leaving.” It’s a reminder to his wife that as he is gone on tour at times, he is gone, but he’s not leaving her. His love is strong.
When I’m home and doing housework or working on crafty projects, I always crank up Pandora on my desktop and my playlist includes anything and everything a capella. I love the college groups and selections from the Sing Off and Pitch Perfect. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome prize!

I’ve been a huge fan of your blog for a while now…I drool over interior design in my free time. I love the picture in this post with the window and potted plants in the background. Great composition!! Anyway, to your question…I usually only take baths in the winter as where we live, the only enjoyable bath in the summer would be one of sangria on ice. However when I do a book and some nice music are always by my side.
Nick Drake is one artist that I’m always in the mood for that time of night. But these days I’ve been listening to more podcasts. In the car…getting ready…over lunch. I just can’t get enough. This American Life is always a favorite but I also recently stumbled upon Dear Sugar, a podcast by Cheryl Strayed, the woman who wrote Wild and authored an advice column by the same name for years. Definitely going to have to binge listen to that today while I get things ready for the week. Happy blogging!!
