Hi Melissa, this is wonderful. My favorite thing to do for summer is to have family over, set up comfy pillows on our deck, set out lots of finger foods, metal buckets filled with icy water bottles and soda….while everyone swims, reads and relaxes! Lots of laughter fills the air and it is wonderful! Yay! Hope you are doing great. Sounds like you are. I’ve been reading Encourage….what a great blog!

I’m going to have to travel for work for two months and then I’m going to take a month off and explore this wonderful place that I live. Hiking, biking, mountain climbing. So looking forward to it. Then it’s time for harvest and fall!

Week of vacation meeting in Tennessee with my parents, brothers, sisters, and all of their families. Boats, jet skies and just hanging out.
Teaching summer school…

This summer I plan to enjoy my boys. All school year long we are busy,busy,busy and since I’m a lunch lady, I have my summers off. I plan to do all the little projects that I have on my to do list and just hang out with my 14 and 19 year old boys. We plan on taking a family vacation but we are undecided on our destination. This summer is going to be a summer of res,t relax and quality family time.

I plan on teaching my youngest daughter some sewing skills, working on cooking and laundry with my older two kiddos, and my middle child wants to work on improving her photography skills. We’re hoping to get our garage organized. I also have a reunion with my High School friends. So excited to see them and catch up on what everyone is doing!
My youngest son is learning to drive. My husband and I turn 50 and celebrate 20 wonderful years of marriage. It’s going to be a momentous summer filled with great memories!
We will be tent camping as a family for the first time this year in the Sequoias. I’m also super looking forward to cleaning out and organizing closets and cupboards and doing some DIY projects. And of course lots of lazy beach days.

I am taking a cultural immersion course in Italy in June. After the class is over, my husband and sons will join me for a Mediterranean Sea cruise in celebration of my husband’s and my 20th wedding anniversary. Seems this summer is the summer for travel.. Last weekend both of my children graduated from law school and undergrad….same town about an hour away so we hit the highway a lot. Just returned from San Antonio..fun for me, conference for my husband. Miami in mid June for niece’s graduation. Beach later in June for a week and big family reunion. Help move the kids into new places. Possibly Chicago in July for another conference with the hubs. US Open tennis in late August….woo hoo!! Lots of weekend trips to beautiful Smith Mountain Lake throughout the summer too! Happy summer!!

I like what Kellie Ann said–lazy days with a good book. Summer seems the only season of the year I have time or make time for reading. This summer that time will be in short supply as we continue on with simplifying (getting rid of stuff) and re-doing the family room (have picked paint colors, ready to purchase it, and Get Going!!). We will start our summer with trips to Bostos and Savannah. Many summer days will be spent at Bush Gardens and Water County since we bought passes. I’m going to California to visit family, running the Color me Rad 5k (excited/scared! it’s my first 5k!) and I have a couple camping trips planned with friends :)
I will be building inventory to start an Etsy shop selling baby gift baskets and relaxing during two beach vacations. Can’t wait!

Along with a few cookouts with friends and family, I am organizing my home. Also after graduation next week, I am clearing out all the home school books I’ve collected over the last nine years. That should give me a lot of space!
As a teacher my summer is eagerly anticipated! Although I won’t e in the classroom I will be involved with several different trainings. The remaining time that I get will be mostly just mommy time having fun with my kidlets. Our ‘vacation’ time will be devoted to helping out with various youth activites through our church: trek, encampment, scout camps and high adventure, and girls camp. Going to be a jam packed and super fun summer!

I am spending my summer working on my yard. I finally get to work on making it pretty and I am growing a great big vegetable garden now that I finally have a yard big enough to do so. I am so excited. I have been out with my little clippers clipping all my bushes and planting all kinds of new plants and mulching beds. Funny how different my husband and I go about doing the clipping though. He goes about chopping things to death while I chop a tiny bit here and there and then step back to look…then chop a tiny bit more and step back to look again. Mine has to be just right. As you have probably guessed I only let him do certain things ;)

No specific plans. Our set vacation time is going to be spent when my husband has surgery and will be off work for 3-4 weeks. Hopefully we can get some R & R toward the end of his recovery.

I am looking forward to a 4 week vacation housesitting a million dollar home with a pool and beautiful gardens. I will be floating in the pool every afternoon under the trees on a raft, enjoying the entire place to myself with two hot tubs and the pool. I will also be visiting Carmel and Monterey Bay for whale watching, kayaking and the Monterey Bay Aquarium
My boyfriend and I have 4 weddings this summer and also the arrival of his niece across the country. And also we’re hoping to spend a week in the Cape and a week on Nantucket. Fingers crossed!

Ahhh – summer! We will make a trip to visit the family on the Gulf Coast, do some fishing and crabbing (yay!), go to summer camp meetings (one of our favorite things to do) and hopefully get to take some nice walks about the neighborhood.

My summer plans include traveling with my husband to Williamsburg to a B&B to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary wedged in between visits from our grandchildren. We live in paradise on the Gulf of Mexico so enjoy fun year round and company abounds.

My plans are to devote time and money to my yard this summer. We recently had two very large oak trees removed from the yard and now instead of having shade, I have full sun. Most of my plants need to be moved before they burn up with the summer sun. I had ivy under both trees and all of that needs to be removed and a lawn established where no lawn existed previously. Yes, my summer sounds Hot and Hard and Costly!

Planning a trip with the family to Edisto Beach, SC – our favorite place!
A trip to Virginia with 3 of my sisters! YAY!!! Our kids are all grown and this will be our first trip together since we were kids! Then, being from northwest Pennsylvania, I don’t get to the sea, but every chance we can, we hang out at our cabin in the Allegheny Mountains, right along the Allegheny River. A hike/bike trail runs through our property and we kyak, hike and canoe. And eat. And laugh. We are planning to buy a floating island this year to anchor to the shore and just chill on the water. The best part? No cell phone reception, and no tv!
Oh ya know… a little bit of working and hopefully a lot of playing! I’m looking forward to summer concerts! :)

I’m a children’s pastor so summer is a really busy, really fun time! We are also planning a family trip up to Indiana (from Oklahoma) to see my husband’s family.

I have just started nurse anesthesia school. so not only am I in another state from my husband and son, I am immersed in all things school — remember all that studying and not having any money b/c you can’t work and spending obscene amounts of money on textbooks? right. that’s my life. Very cute summer pics! Living by the beach, going to the pool, and precious time with my almost 7 year old is on my agenda!
I have one desire this summer; to make up some of the lost time I’ve not had with my family, and make it up to them, too. On Wednesday morning, I’m having hip replacement/and pelvic reconstruction surgery. I put this off for a long, long time because I have been frightened to death-well, just about. It was due to an old accident, but there wasn’t any time to get this done when the kids were small. And as time went on, it kept getting harder and harder for me to agree to it. No matter who told me what, or how many times I’ve heard the word “routine,” I’ve had unstoppable anxiety. From a normally – no-nonsense, solve-the-problem girl–this floored me. Well, it’s finally happening, with the help of my very good primary care doctor who eased my anxiety greatly. Although I am still petrified, I’m going to get through it and do what she told me: let the experts put me back together. Because the last worst day of pain I have will be the day before the surgery….So, I’m looking forward to this summer as I recuperate. All through this past winter, and now spring-since I made the decision to do this-I have focused on the pain, the anxiety, the awful feeling of having to have someone else take care of me—and I’ve forgotten to look ahead to being with my twins who are now 16 1/2 and my husband who makes all of our family’s dreams happen. Steve is a 28 1/2 year-hard working lineman for AT&T – he doesn’t get much in the way of rest- as he’s always on call. Yep, he’s the guy in the storms, or after the storms, or there when nothing works – or in the 5 degree bone-chilling freeze, or the 95 degree high humidity summer day…as he’s the best there is in his craft. And my kids-who will be in their senior year come this fall—they have both worked hard at studies and at their volunteer work, too. They all deserve a great vacation-without having to take care of mom who can’t walk. Who can’t hold onto a cup of coffee & the walker. Who can’t drive. Who can’t sit in this chair or that chair. Who can’t do much of anything without their help. While it was getting worse for these few years, last summer was pretty awful-to be on vacation and not be able to do anything. So, this summer I will be much much better & I intend to refocus on them with once again at the beach shack we rent every summer for a few weeks. And not once will I complain about sand in the van or on the floor or anywhere–just to feel it between my toes again will be heavenly.
Our summer plans aren’t very exciting :) Maybe a day trip to a local amusement park or wildlife preserve, but we’re not going on any big vacations. My heart is aching for the sound of the ocean though!
We plan to spend a lot of time outside this summer as well as making a cross country trip. Lots of time with friends, too.

I’m using the SUNSHINE to motivate me to Give a HUGE declutter so that I can finally decorate and give our family beautiful places to enjoy and grow!
I’ll be looking for a new job and helping my mom recover from hip replacement!
We will be doing a church planting camp in Ukraine and then traveling to Germany to visit friends! God is good!

How wonderful is this? I plan on volunteering this summer at Camp Happy Days in South Carolina. It’s a camp for kids with cancer. Looking forward to sharing a little love.

We don’t have a large vacation planned yet but my daughters last day of school is this friday so we are going for a long Memorial day weekend to Florida and then back home for a staycation for the rest of the week.

First, big celebration on June 18th because I’ll be done with teaching for the summer. The big summer celebration begins on June 18th when I say bye-bye to my students. Then I’m teaching at a summer reading camp and tutoring three students. I’ll also help out my hubby at his job renovating homes and hoping take some us time to go camping somewhere in New England.
