Christmas at The Bloedel Estate

We are having a lovely Christmas holiday just spending time together. Of course, there is nothing like being chased by a GIANT SWAN! I was the one he was chasing. I was sure he was coming to peck my eyes out.

Isn’t this wonderful? I’m ready to move again! The Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island is just beautiful! I just soaked in the peace and tranquility of this place. We spent a wonderful afternoon strolling through the grounds and sipping hot cider in the house.

Love the planters and all the moss!

Not too shabby, eh? I think I could make this place work.

This was an amazing row of birch trees! I was kind of tempted to cut off a few branches for my house but decided against it. The groundskeepers probably (guessing) would have kicked me out!

Merry Christmas everyone!

What a gorgeous place! Too funny about the swan…and it’s not even nesting season. Love the mossy planter. Thanks for sharing the pics…it does look so tranquil. :-)
    Merry Christmas!

Oh what an exquisite looking place – I love the architectural details and the surrounding landscape – in fact, it’s all beautiful. Oh my, just read your previous post (I’m in catch up mode, after being out of town for a week), and felt you were writing about me ….. I only finished decorating hte house last night!!!! Yikes a definite first for me! but thankfully I bailed out of the perfection “train” a few years ago, so not as stressful as it would normally have been. I am soooo thankful that due to delayed/ changed travel plans we are only having family over much later today – we will be enjoying a late Christmas lunch/ early dinner – thanks goodness for small mercies, gives me time to get everything done! Merry Christmas Melissa, thanks for your goregous blog, great posts AND not least, the opportunity to share!!!

That reminds me a lot of one of our favorite places in Williamsburg, VA. There they are geese who expect to be fed….but the grand house and ponds…very similarly beautiful.

I am so thankful for you that your home sale situation is resolved and you can just enjoy your family without the stresses of this past year!

    Merry Christmas!!!

    First of all Happy Holidays!

I LOVE the planters with moss. It is a stunning photo and I thank you for the inspiration. Makes me want to run to the nursery tomorrow.

I’m a sucker for moss. I once bought a house (for the one and only reason…) because it had moss growing on the patio.

The birches are beautiful too. I probably was a good idea that you resisted your impulse to “trim” them. I don’t think they allow computers in jail!

Thank you for your visits and comments; they’ve ment so much.

As a collector of swans, I was very intrigued by such a close-up photo of one. Thank you for risking life and limb. ;D

Gorgeous! Talk about upping one’s motivation for attending a family get-together if it were held in a place like this! :-) (But for the record, of course I attended all our familial gatherings. And one WAS held in a charming historic school, complete with a roaring fire in the fireplace.)
