Doesn’t it seem like October just started? Before we know it we’ll be into holiday season, so I wanted to share a few updates from this month at home.
I shared a fall day in my kitchen here, but I’ll include a couple of those photos here, too.

Awhile back I needed a new lampshade so I bought a few to try. I really loved this green one on an inexpensive white lamp I found at HomeGoods! My shade is the 14 inch size.
I’ve been really loving a touch of green in our home lately. It’s always been one of my favorite colors but I didn’t use it as much in my past two homes. It’s a lovely accent color for our blues and neutrals. There is a lot of green outside our windows so I love how it brings the outside in and makes it all feel so peaceful and cohesive.
Speaking of bringing the outside in, I also love to bring the inside out! With our porch ceiling in a shade of blue (Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue at 50%) along with the green pillows and blue rug we have out there now, it all feels cohesive when I look from the inside out.

Green and white striped pillows

Another new addition outside…I found these bamboo wind chimes for my husband for his birthday and we both love them! They have a gentle sound that is so soothing. We often keep our door open in mild weather so we can enjoy them when we’re inside.

We have some future plans for our entry but in the mean time we hung this vintage bamboo rack that I found while antique shopping this summer. (These bamboo wall hooks look nearly identical). I was actually going to hang it in our powder room, but for now it’s in the entry and a home for our pups’ growing bandana collection!

l love when our pups wear bandanas (we bought these in sets here) so it’s fun and convenient to find them there. Plus the plaids and checks feel kind of “fallish” so they add pretty colors and patterns in the room.
To add a little more cozy texture I set my vintage wicker sailboat in the window, and added a woven lampshade to my chinoiserie lamp.
I enjoy making simple changes that don’t have to be permanent, it’s fun to experiment and try different elements together, too.
Speaking of changes that don’t have to be permanent, we finally finished painting our door and the walls. I’m still planning to add wallpaper or do handpainted wallpaper in here, but decided to wait on those projects until the new year so we just updated the paint instead. The current paint colors (which are always subject to change ha) are Benjamin Moore Del Mar Blue (interior door), Sherwin Williams Classic Light Buff (white trim), and the walls are Benjamin Moore Misty Air.
You can see a video of the lamp and shade closer up here.

One of the fun perks of my job is we get to photograph different rugs in our home every so often. We recently swapped out the cute floral rug we had in the dining room for spring and summer for this rug (as well as the rug in the entry, too).

It has such a pretty color fall palette, is soft underfoot, durable for the dining room, and ready for Finnegan and Lily’s daily shenanigans.

We made a little nest of fall leaves for the swan on the table. You can see them better in a video here.

We have a new coffee station now in the kitchen. I mentioned this change the other day but in anticipation of holiday gatherings and cozy mornings, we now have a drip coffee maker in this corner and my espresso maker in the coffee cabinet. I’m enjoying both of them.

Thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts on my bedroom paint indecision post! I do like the moody blue tone in this “AI inspiration photo.” but I decided to go in a completely different direction! :)
I can’t wait to share our room with you, we got started on the paint this week!

This has nothing to do with fall but I got in on a deal and grabbed this darling book set. It’s so cute — it would be a great gift idea! It looks cute on a shelf and they are classic books to read, too.
Speaking of books and gifts, we’ve been working on our annual gift guides to share with you.
You can find our shops here, including items in our home home and recent finds, too!

Hi! How do you plug in your entry way table lamp? I don’t see an outlet? Thank you! Jennifer
Hello! There is an outlet there so I just have to drop the cord down behind the books and over. I do have rechargeable lightbulbs though which are handy when there isn’t a nearby outlet!
Hi Melissa, I ordered the rug from Rifle paper company you have in your bedroom from Wayfair. WE had a Dash and Albert 9×12 rug in wool in our living room. After spending over $1,000 and 7 years later I couldn’t get it clean. I had the Bissell little green machine, hired Stanley Steemer and just couldn’t get rid of the foot traffic marks. Sure having four grandsons and numerous dogs didn’t help. When the new rug arrived we weren’t sure but after putting it down in our family room my husband declared it the best rug ever.
Old rug was darker gray with white design. This makes our room look so much brighter and looks like easy to care for. It arrived in two days for $251. What a great find. Thank you for sharing.
I’m so glad to hear that!! Thank you for sharing. It really does brighten the room. We’ve cleaned ours with the bissel and it works like a charm! Even with two dogs and all kinds of accidents we’ve found it cleans right up.
