Do you decorate for Valentines day? Today’s post will inspire you with creative ideas for decorating your home in this season, whether you plan to decorate for Valentine’s Day or not!

Our homes should bring us joy. They should reflect who we want to be, the life we’ve lived and what matters to us in this season. If you’re inspired to embrace a new color or decor piece in your home this winter, or maybe you want to celebrate love and romance, or just want to make your home fun for your kids or grandkids, I say why not go for it….DECORATE FOR VALENTINE’S Day!

Creating little pockets of joy in our home is a good thing. Life can feel so serious! There are too many decorating rules out there, IMO. :) Embrace what makes you happy and makes your home feel full of love and joy!

I was doing some online window shopping this weekend and ended up at Terrain. Do you window shop? I don’t always plan to buy, but I really love to find creative inspiration for a mood or to bring out something I already have.

There were so many adorable Valentine-y ideas, I thought you might feel inspired seeing them, too.

A touch of Valentines decor could be a sweet way to slowly evolve our home from winter into spring. Valentine’s can be a welcome opportunity and a diversion in a very long dark season.

Grapevine Hearts Garland

This grapevine hearts garland is so sweet. I love how they strung copper string lights through it, too. (I have these battery operated ones!). This reminds me of a simple DIY felt heart garland my kids and I made many years ago! I love whimsical details like that.

Taper Candles

Taper candles grouped together in various shades is so fun! This would be stunning as a table centerpiece or on a mantel. This reminded me that I have a beautiful set of red glass candlesticks my husband bought me years ago, I should bring them out!

Fresh Quince Branches

Pink branches in a vessel…a simple and lovely way to ease into spring with a subtle nod to Valentine’s Day!

Perhaps these ideas will inspire you to invite a few friends over for a simple Valentine’s gathering…how fun would that be?

When my husband and I were newlyweds we invited other young couple friends to our home for a simple Valentine’s party. We put together a playlist of classic old songs, served chocolate and strawberries and had some fun games and conversation starters.

I guess we aren’t as fun as we used to be HAHAH, so maybe it’s time for another Valentine’s party! The past few years have been a bit more lonely and isolating for many, I think. Valentine’s Day might be just the inspiration we need to freshen up our home and open our doors to reconnect with friends. I shared lots of tips for hosting in my book Simple Gatherings.

Iron Heart Wreath

Terrain has the prettiest handmade iron wreaths. They are a splurge but obviously they’d last forever instead of buying fresh wreaths! This heart shaped wreath is gorgeous, how fun would it be to put that out on your door every February? They also have this round shaped aged iron floral wreath, and a pretty iron floral garland.

Fresh Tulips

Tulips are one of my favorite ways to add some spring cheer and they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, too. I have these faux tulips in pink, coral, and white.

Wood Bead Lantern

I love the idea of adding pink pillar candles into a neutral vessel. These unique and charming beaded lanterns are GORGEOUS and the pink candles are perfect.

Red Post Box

This post box doesn’t appear to be available to ship, but I thought it was such a creative idea! How sweet would this be for a bridal shower or any occasion? You could stick branches in it like the inspiration photo and have guests clip cards or notes onto the branches with clothespins! Or, have it out for your family to write each other notes in, gratitude lists…or just to place your daily mail in!

I actually have a metal postbox I haven’t hung yet in my new home, so this is inspiring me now! See? The benefits of window shopping! :)
