Decorating With A Little
Hint of Spring Green
(and the Winter Home Linky)

by Melissa @ The Inspired Room on January 15, 2010

Coastal Living

In the bleak days of winter, we all need some hope that spring is on the way, don’t we? I think a little green in the home is a good reminder of  ‘life after winter’!

Coastal Living

These lovely shades of spring green paired with creamy white are so fresh, pretty and soothing.

It is time for our Winter Home Linky!

Every Friday in January we are inspiring each other with winter ideas for the home.

Share your ideas for winter decorating or making the best of winter with a direct link to an applicable post (posts to home pages have to be deleted, sorry!) or share your ideas in the comments!

A FEW NOTES BEFORE WE SHARE OUR POSTS:

  • Thank you for your lovely birthday wishes here yesterday, in email and on Facebook. Facebook announces one’s birthday even when one tries to keep it a secret. But I do so appreciate all the love and warm wishes! You are really the best.
  • I haven’t yet chosen the winner for the amazon.com gift card. And, just sayin’ the odds of winning this one are pretty good so far. Don’t tell me you don’t want a new decorating book (or whatever you chose to buy) from amazon.com. I would love to win it myself so I could get a new book! I am going to give you over the weekend to enter and then the winner will be announced next week.
  • Lastly, I never remember to tell anyone that I now have a facebook fan page for The Inspired Room. So, I am telling you now. I haven’t really got the hang of what I am supposed to do with a fan page, but it would be lovely to see you all there doing whatever one does on a fan page? Ask for autographs? Discuss what you love about The Inspired Room? Swap memories and stories about The Inspired Room? Gah. Maybe we’ll have a special Facebook fan contest? I have no idea. But just seeing all of your happy faces there would make me happy for now.

So, what inspired you this week?

Love the green! I like the look of decorating with all one color and always forget about it when I’m changing things around. I need to try that when I decorate the Hoosier cabinet next time.
Thanks for hosting!

Just came across this blog today and am so glad I did! I have never thought about using green to brighten things up in winter because I am not naturally attracted to it as the main color in decorating, but this post opened my eyes! The shades used in your posts seems to make the rooms feel warmer without getting that drowsy, heavy look some warm shades do. Great post!

Melissa — Happy Belated B-Day. May all your birthday wishes comes true.

This week I’m sure I have a feeling that we are all inspired by the brave people of Haiti who in under 20 seconds had their entire way of life turned upside down and smashed like a pancake on hot griddle. I’m sure that right about now that their patience is on edge and prayers are always needed as they dig out.

The link that I posted today is titled “What’s for Dinner” and it includes a beautiful table setting from Rebecca Thuss and also a great video link from “America’s Test Kitchen” for making Beef Burgandy in a crock pot! Enjoy the show and the song by Kathryn Scott.
