The countdown is on for all of the holiday festivities. We are hosting Thanksgiving next week and Christmas just a few weeks from now, so we’ve been preparing our home for the entire hosting and holiday season — with Wayfair!

From baking treats, to setting our table, to decorating and shopping for gifts…Wayfair always comes through for us with everything we need to celebrate and savor the season.

This last week my daughter Courtney and I turned on some jazzy tunes to do some pre-holiday prepping on a blustery day. We:
- lit some candles to set a cozier mood, it was so dark out — this was a must!
- did a little early Christmas decorating (so glad I started early, it takes longer than you think!)
- gathered our favorite holiday dessert plates (these tree appetizer plates, and these polka dot tree dessert plates, to be ready for hosting). I washed them and put them all in one spot so they’ll be easy to find later.
- baked a Christmas Gingerbread Loaf in a darling white scalloped loaf pan (a new to me recipe!)
- refreshed our kitchen shelves to be ready for serving with a seasonal mix of classic green and white plates and platters (white ruffled dishes, green stoneware patterned dishes, cabbage platters)
- sipped our pre-holiday coffee from festive mugs (these winter scene mugs, and these tree mugs)
- taste tested the Gingerbread Loaf (and 10/10 recommend, you can find the recipe here).

Have you been preparing for holiday and hosting season in your home?
It is fun to make a day of it, we got a lot done and enjoyed it, too. I need to schedule another prep day soon!

I have always loved your beautiful blue and white aesthetic and gorgeous views out your kitchen windows. I know that blogging is a revenue stream for many. But lately, I am beginning to feel that people are posting mostly to sell sponsored merchandise . Sometimes half the content is selling something… it’s everywhere.
It’s true there’s definitely more selling online than when I started in 2007 but honestly the hope and expectation of most followers these days is that we’ll offer the sources, which I’m happy to do (it is a good deal for readers though, it’s like having a personal shopper you don’t have to pay, but it is a lot of work for me!) My two daughters who are young moms help me do all of this, so it’s a wonderful way for us to be creative together and support our family! We love it, and am so grateful this is my job– it is most definitely a real job and not just a fun hobby. Even though it’s what I love to do. :) Hope you can find the value in it! I’m happy to share here as long as people enjoy it.
I love that blogs list shopping sites where I can locate their products. People usually get annoyed if they’re not listed. It’s a nice option. I relax and look at Melissa’s all the time and have bought quite a few of her accessories.
Thank you, so kind. I’m so happy to hear you find the value in what I share!!
I love your decor and how you design and place your furniture… I’m especially thankful that you list the items and where one may purchase them. Please continue to share–thank you
Thank you Brenda, I appreciate that! I am so glad to hear you find inspiration and value here!
Your home looks so warm and inviting. It will be fun sharing the holidays with friends and family.
