Easy DIY Salt Dough Ornaments: Santa Handprint

Looking for a simple craft to make with kids this year? My daughter Courtney made these adorable Santa handprint ornaments with her baby boy. Such a fun craft to remember his first Christmas. These would make a special gift for grandparents, too!

They are so easy to make, here’s how:

4 cups flour

1 cup table salt

1.5 cups warm water

Mix it all together, roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 thickness, stamp hands, cut them out, punch a hole for an ornament (we used a metal straw!), bake at 200-250 for 2-4 hours. (It should feel completely hard and dry, not cool or damp inside)

Paint (acrylic paint, wait for each layer to dry, use a toothpick for small details and a Sharpie for the eyes).

Seal with a spray sealer like this or Mod Podge. Add baker’s twine or ribbon to hang on the tree!

Merry Christmas season!
