Our Christmas get-together with family didn’t go as planned, but we got an unexpected gift. A white Christmas! Snow in the Pacific Northwest is rare, but it’s even more unusual on Christmas day so it was a beautiful sight to behold! And unlike most NW snow, this time it didn’t melt right away.
In fact, we are still savoring every moment of this snowy gift, mostly by staying curled up in bed or lounging by the fire with hot drinks in hand. It was 12 degrees this morning, so we’re quite happy inside, glancing around to enjoy the magical winter wonderland beyond our windows. Basically, living a homebody’s best life.
With the risks of the impending storms across the NW and other situations that came up, our kids and extended family were not at our home for Christmas. We really missed having them here, but it was a prudent decision to keep everyone safe. We know many families suffered much worse this season, so we are grateful for our family’s health and safety!
The beauty of the snow, the coziness of our new home and our fun “zoom Christmas gathering” made it a special day anyway.
