Project Procrastinators Party:
The BEFORE Photos

BEFORE

Tell me I am not the only one who procrastinated on making a decision on WHICH project to do for our Procrastinator Party? I had so much trouble deciding.

If I decide to paint something, I want to make sure I am picking the right color. Just because painting something black (let’s say) might be all the rage, it doesn’t mean I will choose black (even though I love it)! I’m a rebel.

I have to consider all the options first. I walk from room to room imagining what I want to see when I come to that piece. And because I am just moving in, there are a lot of new things to consider and projects still to do. Oh, THE OPTIONS!!!

I was on sensory overload trying to design my entire house in time for this party. No wonder I was procrastinating!

Finally,  I have decided to makeover my dining room chairs.

I’d love to start on the walls or the cupboards, but until I officially sign my papers in two weeks to buy this house, I am not changing anything other than furniture — yet.

Being that I am still trying to get organized in my new place, I may not even finish the chairs in two weeks, but I’m taking baby steps. First step, I am removing those woven seats. What color did I choose? You’ll have to wait and see!

Stay tuned…in two weeks I’ll reveal how far I get.

My first baby step. Oh, I am so proud.

Now, it is your turn.
What are YOU going to work on?

Share your project (big or small, it doesn’t matter!) in the comments or via a Mr. Linky link to your BEFORE photo, LET’S GET BUSY, PEOPLE! Don’t leave me hanging out here alone.

Let’s use the comments on this post for some chit-chat along the way, shall we?

Pop in now and then to tell us how you are doing! Come back to this post to chat about the projects or ask questions (or to cry), so we can all know where to find each other! If you aren’t working on something, for goodness sake at least bring over some cookies to keep us energized.

This is procrastinator party central for two weeks so get your grubbies on and let’s get to it!

The after photos can be shared via Mr. Linky on Thursday May 14th.

Our natural oak staircase needs a total overhaul – and I am procrastinating, only because I have to tape off everything, cover the stairs, strip the wood, paint the bottom trim, stain the top DARK walnut color, air out the toxins, and keep the munchkins out of my way. BIG project – hope I’ll get to it soon.

You have shamelessly guilted me into picking a project. I haven’t done a post about it because I’m a wee bit tired after being up all night with bubs. However, I can tell you that I have a plain bookshelf that I intend to makeover into a display/coathanging/kids art work/place to hang my handbag type thingie. Could be complete disaster….. my kind of project!

Second step: Figure out how to link my blog to this post. (Seriously, how on earth do I do that?)

HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!

OK, here’s my problem…..I’m painting a coffee table and the top was badly scratched and gouged. I filled all of the damage with wood putty, then sanded it down and things were looking good….until I used a damp cloth to wipe away the dust. The damp cloth melted away the putty that was in the shallower scratches (too numerous to ignore). This is my first time painting furniture so I’m at a loss as to how to remove all of the dust without a damp cloth. If I wipe it down really well with a static dusting cloth, will that take off enough of the dust to paint over???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh you poor dear!! I would say a tack cloth (you can buy them at the paint or hardware store) would do the trick….make sure the dampness is all dry first, before you painting…Let us know if the tack cloth doesn’t help! And if any one else has an idea, please share to help our friend here!

You inspired me to paint the wicker furniture on my porch this weekend. All it took was 7 cans of spray paint, one hour and… three years of procrastination! How are you all doing? I bought my paint and am determine to get it ON THE CHAIRS this weekend.

  37. Libby says:

I am SO excited to see what you do with those chairs…. because I have the VERY same ones. We actually just bought a new kitchen table (and chairs) to replace this set as it’s worn and dated, but I’ve been waiting for nearly 6 months for our new one to arrive. I’m thinking maybe when I see your chairs I won’t be needing my new set :-) .

    Libby (in Australia)

    • Melissa says:

Hi Libby! This set used to be at our family beach house so I have never used it at my home before. I am looking forward to seeing if I can freshen it up a bit to go with my new house’s style! Today I am actually going to put some paint on the chairs so I am chomping at the bit to see what it will look like!

  38. Amy says:

Hope your chairs are going great! Once again, I seemed to have picked a project that involved my husband’s efforts more than my own. Oh dear. He’s decided that ordinary shelves in our open-storage pantry area won’t do. No, no: Custom shelves it is! He’s broken two drill bits already. And me, I’ve thrown away a grocery bag full of expired dry goods.
