I determined a long time ago I was going to be a laid back hostess. That does not mean I don’t pretty up my house with candles and tidy things a bit before guests arrive. I wouldn’t be ME if I didn’t. I love the process of nesting and creating ambience!
But I want to make the experience of entertaining DOABLE, and that means I have to pick and choose HOW I entertain or else I won’t do it. {Or I’ll attempt something ridiculous and end up in the fetal position under the table.} I am definitely NOT N.O.T. a Martha Stewart. And that is OK. I can accept that.
I think the first step to successful entertaining in your home is to acknowledge your fears and your weaknesses so you can find ways to work around them and entertain in spite of them! Our weaknesses and fears can stop us from inviting guests over at all, so we may as well figure out how to manage those weaknesses.
I’m sharing my entertaining weakness today on Reluctant Entertainer so you are all invited to head on over to read the article and share your own fears of entertaining!
Meanwhile, I’m heading out in search of some paint for my procrastination project.
