Simple Fall Joys + Home Style Saturdays

Hi friends! I’m was so glad you enjoyed the autumn drive by as much as Courtney and I did. I love driving around looking at houses in every season, but especially this time of year in neighborhoods where the leaves are such vibrant colors and spilling out to brighten all the streets and sidewalks (although I’ve lived in neighborhoods where there were so many leaves falling that it became a bit dangerous to drive and walk, so I guess there are a few downsides to the seasonal beauty!).

When I arrived home from the drive I was inspired by all the color, so I ran out to my backyard and found a few pretty twigs and fading flowers to bring inside!

They are making me so happy, especially the beautiful red leaves on this little branch.

I love doing this but have a tip- soak the entire branch in water ( a bucket or flat in your sink) to not only boost the life of the fresh cut but remove any hidden bugs. Once I cut and just put in a vase , came back and hundreds of ants that had been hidden inside were crawling over the table! We have tiny little ants where I live but they bite so best to be sure only the branch comes inside.

The color change on our leaves is always kind of lame here, so no vibrant reds or yellows for me. BUT the upside is that there are lots of evergreen broad-leaves, so I can always bring in fresh-looking green branches in a vase, and that’s a nice perk. I love doing that, too.

No color here in Florida …. but I saved the eucalyptus mint scrub recipe you shared from On Sutton Place! Thank you! Hope you and your hubby are adjusting to your empty nest, Melissa….I’m sure it’s helpful to have the girls so close by.

I have a beautiful red maple tree in the back yard that is just starting to turn. I think I may take some clippings and bring inside…Thanks for the inspirations!
