Kylee here today to share some of my favorite things: cleaning gadgets that make my life easier and chores more bearable! I’m a big believer in less is more and don’t like to have “things” just for the sake of having things. So, I’m serious when I say these gadgets are actually useful and don’t take up space for the sake of it. When it comes to cleaning solutions, I feel the same way! I only have one bottle of cleaner for every surface in my home (plus household staples like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils). It’s so freeing to have less bottles and less clutter. Simple is best.
First up my beloved 10 in 1 steam mop. It’s not just for the floor, but also comes with a built in hand held steam with various attachments that you can use for clothes, grout, windows, countertops, and more! I love that it only uses steam to sanitize–no cleaning solution needed. It’s super lightweight and easy to use. It was a lifesaver when we were deep cleaning our last home to prepare for sale and helped get some tough to clean areas sparkly! It helped loosen some buildup in crevices of window sills, whitened up a grimy shower floor, and even helped deep clean moss and slime from our balcony railing and floor. The possibilities are endless!
When it comes to floors, it’s amazing for tile. Some people say to be wary using it on wood and I did some online searching before using it and couldn’t find any actual examples of anyone harming their floors with it. I personally use it on my hardwoods both at my current home and my old home with no issues. I don’t let it linger, just quick passes and it’s been great! I recommend buying extra mop pads. They are washable, but it’s always nice to have some extra. Fun hack: add a few drops of essential oil (I usually use eucalyptus) on the mop pad for a fresh scent!
Stubborn toilet rings and hard water stains be gone! No harsh chemicals needed. I don’t know what else to say except for this cleaning stone works!
I use this electric scrubber every day! I have several now because they are just so handy and give you some extra oomph so you don’t have to use quite so much elbow grease. I keep one specifically for using with toilets, and others I use for sink and shower cleaning. My shower is filly tiles on the floor and walls and this has been a lifesaver for grout cleaning!
Gets in all the tricky spots. You can also get different cleaning head attachments!
This looks like a simple dish soap dispensing brush, right? Well, I’ve repurposed one to keep in the shower and it’s never been cleaner! I just scrub it down before hopping out each time and it keeps the buildup at bay. I fill mine with a little soap, water, and some of my favorite non toxic cleaning solution. Stay away from anything toxic since you’ll be breathing it in if you’re cleaning while in the steamy shower!
I’m sure you’ve heard of magic erasers, but I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to spend money on the name brand! Buy these instead, they work just as well and you get a whole lot more bang for your buck! They clean stubborn marks like nothing else.
This spot cleaner is magic! I use it on my indoor and outdoor furniture, rugs, and even to clean my car. It deep cleans and suctions out the nasty and is excellent at removing stains. While they don’t recommend using anything but their cleaning solution, I use the tiniest amount of Thieves Cleaner with water and have had great results.
Another tool I saw went viral and snatched up is this lint remover. I had no idea how badly I needed this in my life until I got it! If you have pets, this is a must have. If you have carpet I DARE YOU you to get one of these and scrape it along your carpet and see how much hair comes up, even if you vacuum regularly. I was shook when I took this to the carpeted stairs at my last house. I have used it on pillows, furniture, even clothes! Use caution on delicate fabrics as it can snag.
