As the year 2023 is coming to a close, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at The Inspired Room readers’ favorite decor items from the past year. I was able to do some decorating in my own home over the last few months once my renovations were done, but I’m really excited to do more decorating (less construction haha) in 2024.

As the creator of The Inspired Room (for the past 17 years!) I love to help readers decorate their homes by sharing affordable, timeless and stylish decor pieces! I’m always so thrilled to get messages from people who bought and love something I recommended. I mostly share items I have in my own home, but also carefully select pieces I would feel comfortable buying, if I had a place for them!

Here are YOUR faves for 2023 (and mine, too!).

This jute and cotton rug – I got this in 2023 and love it! It’s super soft, doesn’t shed, and comes in several colors. I shared a Q &A about the rug with a close up photo in this post. We also use THIS rug pad with it. It makes it even softer and helps keep it in place.

Plaid Chair – I have these chairs in plaid and stripe (2 striped upstairs and one plaid downstairs). They come in several colors and have been great chairs for our small spaces, I sit in the plaid one every day by the fire and it’s nice and cozy!

Patterned rug in ocean/gold color – We have this in our dining room, you can see photos of it in our home here.

Patterned Cork Back Placemats – I shared about these recently and I’ve gotten several messages of TIR readers loving them too! They are super sturdy (cork back), great quality and had wonderful reviews. I can tell they will last a long time. I’m keeping them in a basket on a shelf in our island so they’re easy to grab when we need them! I love the pattern and colors so much.

Reversible Throw Blanket – Everyone who gets these LOVES them! They’re lightweight, machine washable, super soft, and come in several patterns and colors, you can see them here. See more details and photos of these blankets in my home in this post.

Rattan Serving Cart – We have this in our kitchen. Read my post about this cart and how I’ll use it here.

Wood Folding Tray Table set of 2 – I shared more about these tray tables in this post.

Meadow Art Print – I shared about this pretty art print in this post about Whimsical Decorating. The whole scene is just delightful!

Jute Wrapped Chandelier with Shades – This is in our new dining room, you can see photos of it in our home here. You can get different shade options (so many patterns and colors) or use no shades!

Buffalo Check Curtains – I have these in the chambray color in my bedroom, you can see photos here.

Toaster Oven with Air Fryer – This is the only oven my parents use in their Tiny Cottage parents and they love it! I want to get one for holiday backup. See photos of it in The Tiny Cottage tour here.

Faux Tulips – These are so realistic and I have them in a few colors, see more photos in my home here.

Hobnail goblets – Oh my goodness, I love these hobnail goblets so much. They are so pretty, sturdy, and the green color is dreamy!

Brass Pharmacy Floor Lamp – I have this in my bedroom (see photos here). Find more of my floor lamp recommendations in this post.

Brass Wall Sconces with Linen Shade (set of 2) – I have these in both black and brass. These are the wall lights I used without needing to hardwire! I used these rechargeable bulbs (see more details and photos here). I have since hardwired the lamp and added a fun new shade which you can see in this post.

Window Candles – These make us so happy on winter evenings! We absolutely love them, no other window candles compare. This brand has really neat features that make them special, so I definitely recommend them. I’ve bought them for members of our family, too! Hanging Lit Stars – We put these up on our porch every year, you can learn more about these stars and see more photos in my home in this blog post.

Leather Armchair – I have had the loveseat version for years and it has treated us so well! It only gets better with age.

Simply Home book – Thank you for all your support this year as I released my latest book (two of popular original paperback books, Simple Organizing and Simple Decorating, now combined into a hardback version)!

Rattan Accent Cabinet –  I love little accent cabinets like these. I have used them as an “entry command center”, and for storing different things like office supplies, bedding, and entertaining items. We got this garden hose last summer and it’s the best garden hose I’ve ever had! We have the 50 foot and it also comes in a 100 foot.
