If you’ve been around the blog for awhile, you might remember this red toile chair in the kitchen of the Tudor I lived when I started The Inspired Room back in 2007! Come take a tour of my Portland home here!

It was fun to go back and read that early post! I remember your move to Seattle!
I do like toile, my husband doesn’t care for it, at least in traditional patterns. You’ve shown a few non traditional patterns, though, so maybe there is a chance to incorporate some toile into our home!
That bunny toile was just on a Love It or List It show yesterday. Hillary was loving it but it was removed in the end. I find it a bit busy but I do like that navy one so I may try a small project with that. Where did you get the lanterns from the Portland house? Love those and your kitchen ..oh goodness what a great space! The smoke leaves such a soot on everything so I wonder, did that effect your immune system? Had to aggravate your senses. I used to clean after my dad who smoked heavily in his small home. A difficult task.
Well… I removed my black and white toile valences about 12 years too soon! Anyone else have a reluctance to jump on a “new trending style” they did years ago? I just can’t want to! Even if I really think it’s pretty I just can’t for some reason.
Oh I love toile.
I have it in my Dining Room. It’s timeless.
I found sheer blue & white toile fabric, and made very simple panels.
The chair seats are the same pattern, but cotton.
Thanks for sharing.
Have the best day.
Much Love,
Rose.
That blue chair in the first picture is amazing! I’m obsessed over how beautiful it is!

I love toile and this post made my heart sing!
Such a huge amount of work it took to make your former Tudor home livable. After that experience, you must have given a big sigh of relief when you saw your current home and knew that the changes, although many, would be both smaller and simpler. I love your current home and the ways in which you’ve made it your own.
Love these inspiration photos. Reminds me of one of our pst homes in upstate NY. It was gorgeous home, with unturned grams molding, plaster walls and had what appears to be the same color and design Toile wallpaper ( red) in the entry hall and all the way up to the upstairs landing and hallway as the chair that is pictured last in your photos. At the time, it was not my style, but I remember the realtor telling me it was a very, very expensive wallpaper and it was well done , so I worked with it and kept it up while we lived there. When we sold the home 3 years later the buyers lived it! I LOVE the toilet chair in Blue that you show in the first photo! I could see that I. My living room at some point, perhaps replacing our rattan chair we have now. I LOVE blue and I own and live white & blue porcelain dinnerware, vases and urns. Thanks for ygebjnspiration.
That should read “Picture frame molding”
And “ Toile”not toilet! Silly autocorrect! 😂
