If you are short on space or have too many lampshades in a room, you might want to consider a pharmacy lamp! Inspired by lighting from pharmacies in the early 2oth century, these lamps are classic and always in style. I just bought two for my house and I love them!
Pharmacy lamps are the perfect solution to small space lighting needs. They can tuck in a small corner next to a chair, are ideal for reading, and mix up the look of a room filled with lampshades.
Pharmacy lamps are flexible and can easily be moved from room to room as needed. You can find them as table or floor lamps and in a variety of finishes and styles to go with any style of decor! Next time you need to add a little light in your room, think about trying a pharmacy lamp!

Beautiful idea!
Love your blog.
Hello Melissa, I love those lamps too!! In fact the whole top picture is what I am looking for, it would fit lovely in the Alcove that I intend to use has my desk space…Thank you. :-)
I didn’t know they were called pharmacy lamps. They would also be very handy for working on stitchery I would think.
By the way, I see your Compassion link on the sidebar. I just have to say that our church is sponsoring a boy named Herman. It was announced yesterday. We are so excited.
I hope lots of people will find a child to sponsor and make a huge difference in their life! The blessing goes both ways!
Didn’t realize they were called pharmacy lamps, but I just found a lovely one at a yard sale & brought it home for use in my boys’ room. Glad to know it was a good purchase – I love it!
I just bought one last week at Hobby Lobby. At 50% off of course! Love pharmacy lamps and love Hobby Lobby!
I think I could use one of those. We don’t really have room for large end tables for lamps. Thanks for the idea Melissa!

I think I am becoming lamp-crazy! I love all different kinds that bring a quaint, cozy and warm look to a room. I especially love those English/French looking ones with metal shades and high finials. I didn’t know the ones above were called “pharmacy” lamps either, but I especially love the one on the desk. I could’ve used it this weekend for reading… we had thunderstorms and the house was so dark I had every light on (not usual for me). Kept thinking I needed something to give light right on the book…
How timely! I was just thinking that I need a lamp in a tight location where a lampshade would not work. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll be on the lookout.

I have them all over the house. I love them. It’s great to be able to direct light where you want. The style is elegant, but blends into the whole. I also like the “nuts and bolts” of the lamps. I’m sick. I’m a tool girl.
I love the look of this type of lamp! I think it has a slightly industrial feel. Thanks for the inspiring pics!

Love those lamps! I never knew what they were called until now! I learn something new every day! I just wish I didn’t forget so many things. It’s sort of like a one-step forward, three steps back kind of deal!
