Spring Dining Room

My husband brought me a pot filled with blooming tulips today. Sweet? Yes. Maybe it was to make up for not getting around to hanging my kitchen blinds. But in any case, it was a nice gesture! I LOVE seeing tulips, they are my favorite. The pretty white tulips inspired me to freshen up the dining room this afternoon with a few simple touches of spring.

I took the table runners off and just let the table be bare with the exception of the tulips, some wheatgrass I had picked up at the grocery store the other day and a little bird and nest.

Yes, the leaves are still unpainted. I realize this. But I kind of like the funkiness of it, so I’m alright leaving it that way for now. The whole table needs to be repainted so that it is a project for another day!

*Update: I’ve had many questions about my dining room light fixture! It’s an outdoor lantern from Pottery Barn, here is the link!

Around Christmas time I brought the new console table in from the “gathering space” formerly known as our living room. Please disregard the little green Easter grass that fell on the chair. Just noticed that. Eh hem.

Anyway, the table is nice and narrow so it fit nicely in the dining room even with the chairs pulled out. It is a perfect surface for a lamp, setting up buffets and even just for display. Right now, my Easter bunnies are hanging out there! I love seeing those bunnies. And I love seeing little touches of spring around the house.

Spring Organization

Yesterday, the sun came out. HUGE HAPPY EAR-TO-EAR CAN’T-WIPE-THE-GRIN-OFF-MY-FACE SMILE! I love when the sun comes out here in the NW! The sun totally inspired me to think about spring cleaning and wanting to organize everything! Bright sun clearly motivates and energizes me. I think I should move to San Diego or something because we clearly are bright sun deprived here in Seattle. Sometimes you just need something new to inspire you this time of year.

Anyway, along with a welcome spring dose of Vitamin D all around, here is a round up of 11 pics and links that completely got me in the mood for spring organizing all through THE ENTIRE HOUSE! Maybe you’ll be inspired to dive into a spring organizing project, too?

Ready, set, GO! Which picture will inspire you the most?

Puttering {Spring Coffee Table}

simple spring coffee table styling

I‘ve been puttering again! It’s like creative therapy, it relaxes me. I like to mix things up around the house, rearranging the accessories, pairing old and new and texture and gloss for a tablescape. I got a new coffee table a few weeks ago (from World Market) and I love the rustic touch it brings to my family room. It’s nice to have furniture we can put our feet on, dress up with accessories and spill on without worry! And of course I love having a new surface to decorate for the season. A touch of spring green always makes me happy!

It might still be really gloomy outside most of the time {sad face} but bringing in live plants makes everything come to life and reminds me that the days are in fact getting longer and the warm sun WILL return!

Soon I’ll be outside puttering around with my garden and enjoying spring once again!

froggie tablescape

I had to smile when I saw this tablescape in my kitchen the other day.

I kind of love the perfect spring touch of froggie green, don’t you?

So what’s on your coffee table? It’s ok if you have stuffed frogs or Lego buildings.
They add a little quirky touch, right?
