I Have a Crush: Aqua Mason Jars

Country Living

***

I have a long standing crush on mason jars.

And now no ordinary mason jar will do.

Meet my new love:

aqua blue mason jars

Be still my heart.

We used clear mason jars at my daughter’s wedding.
You probably remember that Mason Jars are my #1 go to item for event, holiday or party decorating and even for just around the house as a place to hold pens and other necessities.
Oh how fresh and beautiful aqua ones would be for memory jars, Easter decorating, wedding decor or any spring and summer event!

See more aqua jar inspiration at Classic Bride!

Oh, and if you are not a purist and want a DIY tip, look here on Bridal Buzz!

Um, yeah, so you might want to be careful with vintage class if you plan to drink out of it or place a candle in it. Just in case, be aware of this potential issue with vintage glass via Wedding Bee. Safety first, people. Safety first.

I also have a crush on mason jars, although I don’t have any aqua ones. We just finished a kitchen renovation and when I was unpacking boxes I found out I had 3 boxes of jars, including one full size moving box. I decided it was time to share the love with someone else and gave up some to charity.

Agreed…the flowers and the jar are just made for each other.
    What a beautiful photo.

How about a small nest and eggs in the bottom of one of these?
    That could be cute.

I love the aqua mason jars also! I found one at a local thrift shop a few weeks ago for .25 cents!!!!! It’s in my sewing room holding buttons right now but I think I will be trading out the buttons for some spring flowers now that I’ve seen your post.

We have quite a few blue mason jars that I remember having growing up. But, we still use them for canning! I guess I’ll have to separate them out – as soon as we eat the green beans that are in them right now.

I went through a huge aqua jar phase — but I was collecting only Ball jars. I went to Ball State University, which was founded by the same folks who owned Ball Brothers, which made the jars. I recently sold them at a yard sale or I would happily ship them off to you!

I have mason jars full of sugar, flour and brown sugar in my kitchen. When I find big ones with the actual lids, I snatch them up. I also like to use them as vases too. The aqua ones are the best!

I love mason jars as well. We used them in our wedding on the tables at the reception with sand and candles. We also wrapped a ribbon around them with a G for our last name. Currently I have mason jars on top of my cabinets, holding pencils/pens on the desk, holding toothbrushes, qtips, and cotton balls in the bathroom, and in the fridge holding leftovers, whey, and yogurt. I’m completely obsessed. They’re so much prettier than tupperware. I would love to get my hands on aqua ones, but I haven’t come across them very often.

Love the aqua jars. We used them as vases for our wedding reception, they held bouquets in country pinks. I have 3 on top of my fridge(til I figure out where else to put them or my children suddenly become angels) with pens and pencils, a thankful jar, and dried orange peels and one on my counter awaiting transformation to a soap dispenser a la Heather Bullard. I am so lucky, we have many of them from our ranch’s older days, but I still buy them whenever I find them at estate sales, etc.

Not to sound stalkerish or anything, but sometimes I think you’re my long lost sister or something. Okay, that did sound a little stalkerish. Sorry :)

One tidbit…. mine had #4 on the bottom. THe man selling it also had one with a #13 on the bottom and that one was selling for $20 as apposed to the 3 bucks I paid. Anyone know what that’s about?

Back in the old days people were very superstitious and broke the #13 jars, therefore making them much harder to find today. That explains the price difference.

I love those aqua jars although I’ve never seen any in real life. Maybe they weren’t available in Canada? But I do have the clear ones, and use them a lot, for canning, for storage and of course for decorating.
Great inspiration for more uses in the comments here.

We live on a country road with not too many houses and lots of farm fields. Our kids favorite thing to do in nice weather is to go treasure hunting in the woods behind one of the farm fields. We’ve brought home quite a few blue and green canning jars that line our kitchen window sill. There are many more up there, so hopefully once the snow melts we’ll have another wonderful afternoon of treasure hunting.

Found your post and had to laugh. At myself mostly. We went to our first auction this weekend and I bid on 6 aqua jar (3 without lids mind you). Lets just say I got a bit carried away and I was not losing my jars! I ended up paying $25 for them and I didn’t care. I had my beautiful jars, well they would be after a good washing, and they make me smile! I did some research when I got home. You can date the Ball jars by the way it is written.

I also love aqua mason jars and have been lucky enough to find some. I posted about them yesterday and included a very large vintage blue bottle, maybe an old wine jug, that I recently picked up. It goes so well with the aqua mason jars. They are more fragile than the clear glass in my experience, especially around the rims.

Oh, my! I know you’ve had this article posted here for some time but it is only this year that I’ve taken interest in these jars. Actually, I’ve been drooling over them for months but only got to purchase a few early this year. I had my cousin ship them to the Philippines and got so excited when they arrived.

I have to say they were worth the wait. They came in different sizes. With old, almost rusted, lids too! I felt all warm and tingly when I received them. :) They are beautiful, aren’t they? Whoever thought of making them’s a genius!

Oh! I love the blue ones, too! I bought some at Goodwill and filled them halfway with white sand I got at Dollar Tree and also bought some short tapers (labeled Emergency Candles” also from Dollar Tree and placed them in two large metal candle holders (painted white) and then added sea glass (also from FD) around the bottom inside the large holders-perfect for my outdoor buffet on the backporch that was done in a beach theme! If I can, I will dig them back out and put a pic on my blog…
Would really like to try the Epsom Salt!
