I have a long standing crush on mason jars.
And now no ordinary mason jar will do.
Meet my new love:
aqua blue mason jars
Be still my heart.
We used clear mason jars at my daughter’s wedding.
You probably remember that Mason Jars are my #1 go to item for event, holiday or party decorating and even for just around the house as a place to hold pens and other necessities.
Oh how fresh and beautiful aqua ones would be for memory jars, Easter decorating, wedding decor or any spring and summer event!
See more aqua jar inspiration at Classic Bride!
Oh, and if you are not a purist and want a DIY tip, look here on Bridal Buzz!
Um, yeah, so you might want to be careful with vintage class if you plan to drink out of it or place a candle in it. Just in case, be aware of this potential issue with vintage glass via Wedding Bee. Safety first, people. Safety first.
I also have a crush on mason jars, although I don’t have any aqua ones. We just finished a kitchen renovation and when I was unpacking boxes I found out I had 3 boxes of jars, including one full size moving box. I decided it was time to share the love with someone else and gave up some to charity.
Beautiful Melissa..I feel a collection coming on!
Jeanne :)
Beautiful! I love the way they bring out the pink in the flowers. I can also imagine them full of sea pebbles, bleached white driftwood and shells….

Agreed…the flowers and the jar are just made for each other.
What a beautiful photo.
How about a small nest and eggs in the bottom of one of these?
That could be cute.

I love the aqua mason jars also! I found one at a local thrift shop a few weeks ago for .25 cents!!!!! It’s in my sewing room holding buttons right now but I think I will be trading out the buttons for some spring flowers now that I’ve seen your post.

Aren’t they neat! I have a row of them on the top of my kitchen stove and they store oatmeal, raisins, nuts, etc. Cute and convenient! :-)
I have never seen an auqua mason jar- I am in love!!

I also put togethe a tutorial on making a keepsake from your vacation using them.

Have an awesome day!

I LOVE aqua mason jars!!! I am in the process of searching for some now!!!
Oh gosh, now I’m in love too. But where in the world does one find such a lovely thing?

We have quite a few blue mason jars that I remember having growing up. But, we still use them for canning! I guess I’ll have to separate them out – as soon as we eat the green beans that are in them right now.
I have always loved the aqua jars! So beautiful!

I have a small collection myself…
they are so pretty lined up on a mantel with fresh flowers.

I went through a huge aqua jar phase — but I was collecting only Ball jars. I went to Ball State University, which was founded by the same folks who owned Ball Brothers, which made the jars. I recently sold them at a yard sale or I would happily ship them off to you!

I have mason jars full of sugar, flour and brown sugar in my kitchen. When I find big ones with the actual lids, I snatch them up. I also like to use them as vases too. The aqua ones are the best!

Me too, me too!!! It always amuses me the difference in price you can find them (definately one of those items that is one persons trash, and anothers treasure!!)

I’m with you! I’m helping my best friend plan her June wedding and these are absolutely on the list. Did you ever share photos of your daughter’s wedding?

I LOVE aqua mason jars!
I just bought 2 the other day and want to get more.
I love the zinc lids they come with too.
They are just so simple and beautiful!

I love them too. I did a post on my blog about them last year. I have quite a few that I have been collection. I also like the zinc lids on these aqua jars as well.

I just bought 5 of them yesterday!! :) And the added bonus, instead of the zinc lids they had glass inserts… Got them for $1 each…
Just uploaded this pic to flickr last night… It is amazing to me how all each jar is a different color…

I love my jars but they are just clear…not pretty colours around here!

I love mason jars as well. We used them in our wedding on the tables at the reception with sand and candles. We also wrapped a ribbon around them with a G for our last name. Currently I have mason jars on top of my cabinets, holding pencils/pens on the desk, holding toothbrushes, qtips, and cotton balls in the bathroom, and in the fridge holding leftovers, whey, and yogurt. I’m completely obsessed. They’re so much prettier than tupperware. I would love to get my hands on aqua ones, but I haven’t come across them very often.
Yes, I really appreciate Mason jars, too, but have purposely avoided the aqua ones. Wonder why…

I do love me some mason jars! I have them on my kitchen window seal so I can see the sunset reflect in the glass… it’s beautiful!

I have about 20 of these beauties. I love all the fabulous ideas that you all have for them.
I’m in love with vintage blue mason jars, as well! Last month I picked up several of them at a junk sale for $1 each, and I just posted about their new location on my bedroom mantel. They are so beautiful, and I love the way they attract light. Love your blog!

I love blue ball jars! They are great for storing everything. Just don’t use the old ones with handles for food they have lead in them!
OOOh, I love them too. I don’t have any though and would love to find some. There is nothing like a bunch of them with tealights sparkling in the summer night. I can’t wait!
I too love these and plan on filling my wedding full of them (whenever that may be)!

Love the aqua jars. We used them as vases for our wedding reception, they held bouquets in country pinks. I have 3 on top of my fridge(til I figure out where else to put them or my children suddenly become angels) with pens and pencils, a thankful jar, and dried orange peels and one on my counter awaiting transformation to a soap dispenser a la Heather Bullard. I am so lucky, we have many of them from our ranch’s older days, but I still buy them whenever I find them at estate sales, etc.
Not to sound stalkerish or anything, but sometimes I think you’re my long lost sister or something. Okay, that did sound a little stalkerish. Sorry :)

Great image. I don’t really see this in my house but it looks so pretty here that I may have to give it a try.
Thanks for posting

I just bought one over the weekend for $3 and love it. It’s my first one but I will def be keeping my eyes open for more just like it. I love the blue tint!
One tidbit…. mine had #4 on the bottom. THe man selling it also had one with a #13 on the bottom and that one was selling for $20 as apposed to the 3 bucks I paid. Anyone know what that’s about?
.-= Jennifer´s last blog ..A weekend and under $200 = one bathroom makeover =-.
Back in the old days people were very superstitious and broke the #13 jars, therefore making them much harder to find today. That explains the price difference.

I’m so with you. They are so purely beautiful!
I have seen quite a few of these popping up and I wondered if it had something to do with Easter and Spring. Whatever the case, I love this new twist on an old favorite. Marija

I have 3 vintage aqua Ball jars that I recently one on eBay – and each one if different. I can’t wait to see how they will look in my retro inspired kitchen. Flowers, wooden spoons, cookie cutters, sand with tea lights, pastel foil-wrapped Easter egg chocolates…the possibilities are endless.
I love those aqua jars although I’ve never seen any in real life. Maybe they weren’t available in Canada? But I do have the clear ones, and use them a lot, for canning, for storage and of course for decorating.
Great inspiration for more uses in the comments here.

my 12 yo has a row of mason jars in her room , that she (on her own) collected, then filled – each jar houses a different collection- shark teeth, her yellow collection, marbles, it looks very cool.
I’m loving aqua jars lately- I just included a pic in my new header. lol.
and yes, despite today’s post, i DO know it is only Wednesday (wishful thinking perhaps?!)…

Thanks for adding the tip! I would’ve never thought of painting them. I love those jars…the aqua is gorgeous!
I love them too! I have many. I especially love the Ball jars, as that is my maiden name! Beautiful!
Ok…didn’t even know you could get mason jars in anything but clear. Love learning something new! I may have to redo my color scheme in the house just to incorporate theses! Thanks for sharing :)

I have a little collection of the aqua jars – they look so perfect sitting on top of a white bookshelf when they’re not filled with flowers. I love the various shades of aqua, depending on the manufacturer, and the different sizes. They’re a great thing to collect!
I have a crush on Mason jars, too. They are good for so many things!
Beautiful! I didn’t realize they came in a color other than clear. We went out to eat a few days ago, and we were served our cokes in mason jars, I loved it! I decided to get some and do the same.
We live on a country road with not too many houses and lots of farm fields. Our kids favorite thing to do in nice weather is to go treasure hunting in the woods behind one of the farm fields. We’ve brought home quite a few blue and green canning jars that line our kitchen window sill. There are many more up there, so hopefully once the snow melts we’ll have another wonderful afternoon of treasure hunting.

Found your post and had to laugh. At myself mostly. We went to our first auction this weekend and I bid on 6 aqua jar (3 without lids mind you). Lets just say I got a bit carried away and I was not losing my jars! I ended up paying $25 for them and I didn’t care. I had my beautiful jars, well they would be after a good washing, and they make me smile! I did some research when I got home. You can date the Ball jars by the way it is written.

I also love aqua mason jars and have been lucky enough to find some. I posted about them yesterday and included a very large vintage blue bottle, maybe an old wine jug, that I recently picked up. It goes so well with the aqua mason jars. They are more fragile than the clear glass in my experience, especially around the rims.

We drink out of our mason jars, because we go through our cups so fast! I’m also kicking myself for not snatching up the 6 blue jars at Goodwill a couple weeks ago. Aren’t they so versitile?
I love mason jars… I have a dozen that I use for our casual book club meetings.
I have those jars in my laundry room all lined up on a shelf with vintage buttons, notions etc inside. I LOVE mason jars! Mine have the metal lids with the glass inserts….just so lovely to look at! Your flowers look especially nice in your jar. :)
Won’t you come join me for Treasures and Trinkets Thurday! You just link up something you love! :) Have a blessed week.
That’s such a beautiful color for a mason jar. I plan on using clear ones as centerpieces for my little sister’s baby shower.

Love using mason jars…! Would love to hear more about your daughter’s wedding. I have a couple of weddings to plan, in my future and I am looking for inspiration!
I adore the aqua mason jars as well – they are on my search list for thrift and antique stores. So far I haven’t found any, but I know I will get some one day. I love using them as vases as well.

I love the aqua jars too, I have a lot of them in all different sizes. I can’t explain the joy they bring, such a simple thing but they do. I must say love glassware period. I used to think my Mom was crazy when she would get so excited over glass. But now I get it, we both get it!!

Ooooo – I am right there with ya, girl! I LOVE vintage aqua mason jars! Especially in a room of creamy whites~!
Love the aqua jars also. Have a couple that were family and other I found at a garage sale.
If you do want to use the antique ones for candles, they DO have the little flameless candles at the dollar store and places like that.
I’m looking for about 30 of the aqua coloured mason jars for our wedding next September. Does anyone know where I can buy/borrow some. We are located in Canada. I have a picture of what I would like. I believe they are the quart sized jars.
I used mason jars with flowers for my daughter’s lakeside summer wedding. They were beautiful and inexpensive!
You had me at “aqua mason jar”. There is a unique little place called “Klines Antiques” (my heaven on earth), off hwy 29 in Mt. Pleasant North Carolina that has an old barn stacked from floor to ceiling, with shelves of old glass jars!!
Oh, my! I know you’ve had this article posted here for some time but it is only this year that I’ve taken interest in these jars. Actually, I’ve been drooling over them for months but only got to purchase a few early this year. I had my cousin ship them to the Philippines and got so excited when they arrived.
I have to say they were worth the wait. They came in different sizes. With old, almost rusted, lids too! I felt all warm and tingly when I received them. :) They are beautiful, aren’t they? Whoever thought of making them’s a genius!
Oh! I love the blue ones, too! I bought some at Goodwill and filled them halfway with white sand I got at Dollar Tree and also bought some short tapers (labeled Emergency Candles” also from Dollar Tree and placed them in two large metal candle holders (painted white) and then added sea glass (also from FD) around the bottom inside the large holders-perfect for my outdoor buffet on the backporch that was done in a beach theme! If I can, I will dig them back out and put a pic on my blog…
Would really like to try the Epsom Salt!
