Often when people come over to our home, they are surprised to find our organized pantry tucked in the space under our stairs.
In many homes if you have under stair storage, that area quickly gets filled with junk. I get it! I know we’ve been guilty of that in the past ourselves!
The key to using this space effectively is to dedicate it to a specific need and then organize the items you need in a way that makes keeping it tidy a breeze. In our case, we use the area under our stairs as a pantry as well as our microwave.
What do you use the area under your stairs for?
Great collection of ideas.
I just love little spaces under the stairs! They are like little surprises! Thanks for sharing these great examples!
Sadly, the space under our stairs is actually the route down to the basement, so no chance for a darling space like any of these!
I just love the photos you posted. I only wish I could Pin them on Pinterest. Is there a way to do that? I tried to go to the source of the photos but was led to Houzz, where you can’t pin them.
Thank you! You could always pin them to Pinterest directly from this blog post if you’d like (since the direct source is linked below each of the photos) :) Just click the pin it button that pops up on each photo and it should let you pin!
The “Pin” button showed up today so I happily saved all the ones I loved. Thanks.
the round topped under stairs door made me happy squeal!
I love these! Our house was built in 1916 – there’s an original closet under the stairs that we call the “Harry Potter.” Very practical and great use of space, but not as cute as these.
We built a cat area under our stairs with a mouse hole entry. Unfortunately, they won’t use it! It has litter boxes, a light and an automatic fan that comes on when they go in. I welcome any suggestions on how I can get my three cats to use this area.
What a great collection of ideas! My favorite is the bookcase on the wall going up of course, but I’m constantly reading so that isn’t s surprise! One question, in the fourth picture down, the FarmHouse Staircase by Sherman Oaks- what is that adorable tiny door to the left of the bigger one?! My curiosity and imagination is going crazy!
Your photos almost make me wish we had stairs! When we had stairs in Ohio, they led to the basement, so we couldn’t have made that area into a special space anyway!
Now I want stairs just to put in that great bank of drawers!
Awesome ideas- I’ve used the space under the stairs for many things…the last one was a play area for the grandkids….we called it the bubble room. As we are building a new home…the space under the stairs is going to be used as my office. Thanks for sharing.
