Have you ever wondered if you need to match all the metal finishes in your home? Well, if you were to ask me, I’d say no you don’t. I love the look of mixed metals in a home. I think if it’s done well it gives a home personality and character!

Do you like to mix metal finishes in your home?
Life is too short to worry over such things. ;) Use what you have and what you love and your home will be a reflection of yourself. I have chrome, oil rubbed bronze, copper and stainless steel all together in my kitchen along with enamel, china, glass, pottery and many other materials. I think the mixture of materials makes for a cozy welcoming room!
After living through the era of polished brass everything, I love the “freedom” to mix metals including the more timeless versions of brass. My favorite metal is black because everything else goes well with it. I’ve even kept a bit of the polished brass – some high quality knobs on the bifold doors.
Remember our disdain for shiny brass, not so long ago?
Things change, because I am currently smitten with the ‘warm’ metals — brass + copper!

Oh I love all the metals and mixing them adds such character and interest to any space.
Mixing metals is great. I would choose two, maybe three and stick with those. It could start looking crazy if you add in too many. Of course there is always a way to break any rule!
I’ve often wondered about this…even though I’m not a “matchy” person when it come to design. Metals I often wonder about….I have been thinking of going with black metal window in some of my rooms…big step for me.
