I don’t see any electrical cords. How do these lamps plug in?
I’m with ya! Looks great until you think about a cord hanging down. Are these lamps not for actual use?
I’m seeing cords. Thin so they won’t be noticed as possible. Looking great! But first, gonna tidy up our entry. :)
Love a lamp in the entry…I find it is the perfect place to use a lamp that is just a bit unusual. =)
Happy Day
I think it’s a great idea. Your entryway is pretty narrow but I think you can make it work. And since the entryway is also kind of long and dark, a lamp would really warm up the space and make it welcoming. I have a perfect tallish skinny lamp on a narrow (12″ deep) Chloe console table from World Market. I bought the lamp because it was so unusual but when I got it home, it just didn’t fit in the LR. I wanted to keep it though so I set it on the foyer table until…and suddenly I thought why not? Don’t have a plug anywhere in the open foyer but there is one just around the corner in the LR and I’ve gotten pretty good at hiding cords. If I get creative, I’ll take a pic and figure out how to send it to you.
I love a lamp in the entry. We leave ours on once it gets dark, the bulb is not too bright and it just gives the entrance hall a lovely welcoming glow as opposed to a hard overhead light. We still have a big chandelier hanging from the centre which looks lovely but I do prefer the softer lamp on the big chest of drawers.
I love a lamp in the entrance hall, we have a big chandelier hanging in the middle, but it is the lamp that we leave on in the evening. It creates a much softer more welcoming glow rather than a harsh overhead light.
I have a colonial style lamp that is made to look and glow like an old candle. It rests on an old wood cabinet that was made using an antique iron section of fence for the cabinet door (one of my favorite NH antiquing finds!). My foyer is small so I can just house the cabinet (luckily I have an outlet behind it) and a small corner chair. I have a can light in the foyer (which I’d love to change out eventually); it is so bright and seemingly unwelcoming, so I prefer to turn on my lamp to welcome guests. My staircase is just off of the foyer and one day I’d like to install an old oil burner type lamp to the staircase baluster. That would just make my heart sing!
I love having lamps in the entry. I turn them on as evening comes, and it gives the whole space some ambiance. Much better than a harsh overhead light in this spot.
I notice that I cannot see the cords on any of these lamps. Cords drive me nuts, is there a way to hide them so you can’t see the cords?
I love the look of lamps in the entry hall !
Ahhh I just wish I had anything I could even call an entry!!! I’m working on it…perhaps in phase II of construction. Sigh.
I have a small touch lamp by our entryway and it is my favorite lamp, I love to keep it on even when we are not in the room.
Echoing thoughts / questions about the cords. Not only did I not see the cords but didn’t see outlets either. Just curious if these lamps were functional or just for photo styling purposes.
I love my entry lamp. Just plug it in and bundle the cord then tape (clear packing tape) to back of foyer table. I, also, have a lined french wire basket on lower shelf in front of outlet. But, on a previous sofa table I used for years as a foyer table, the little bit of cord hanging down barely showed. And, lamp stores very cheaply re-cord a lamp to a clear cord.
I love the homey feel a small lamp creates. I turn ours in first thing in the [dark] morning, and as soon as it’s dusk. It’s welcoming to guests and really sets the tone for hospitality. Whodathunk a such a simple thing could do all that!
There is too much “stuff” on the horizontal spaces. The lamp on the hall table would have been enough for me or even a floor lamp. A vase with flowers on the table. There is no room for putting even mail on the table. Not my style. I’m a minimalist.
