Oh yes .. you are so reading my mind!! these pictures are great – they depict most of things I’m loving at present too!
black and white prints (need to start printing my own and framing them – overdue!!! thanks for the inspriation – such a great display), white crockery, glass anything, natural materials (any), gorgeous fabrics, luxurious bedding, candles, flowers, pretty details (beads/ embroidery), simple luxuries such as soft towels and bubble bath!!! and great table settings for simple eat at home dinners/ lunches – lovely!!!!
    thanks for sharing!

  2. Lori

White dishes, jars filled with natural elements and I think I need 2 wicker chairs for my family room. Your first picture, from Pottery Barn is one of my favorites. In fact, I bought some of that paint color to try out for my house. Thanks for all the inspiration.

  3. cindy

Yeah, I’m all about vintage farmhouse right now….unfortunately my house doesn’t come close to meeting the criteria of one. I try to add bits of farmhouse simplicity, though.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Cha Cha

Where is the pillow from, could you email me and tell me, my daughter is head over heels for it. If we can’t find it I’ll have to make it, she is determined. Thanks, I love this whole post. I am feeling the same way, I want a cozy, light filled, lived in look.

I think that I love your 10 things!!

  6. Erin

Best post ever! Seriously, you read my mind. I’ve seen a lot of the pictures before but I’m actually stuck on that first one. I LOVE that photo display and I think I’m just going to have to copy it on a smaller scale. Definitely bookmarking this one.

  7. Claudia

Im agreeing with all of you.

Lately for me its all WHITE white and a lil white ;)

I recently moved into a condo — cant paint- so I am working around a new scheme for me. Strong taupe/ green — so anything to brighten the dark is what I am doing.

As I started putting up all my old pictures/ paintings — I decided that I need to break out MY work — so taking a jump off the cliff to print my own work is my next step.

    Have the best week.

  8. Crystal

I think I love the same 10 things you love. Plus, adding a few little romantic touches, like adding linens with a edging, candles, set of “vintage” glassware, embroidered/french knot anything etc…
I am feeling a little inspiration coming on. I better go see what I have first – reduce, reuse, recycle :)
    Have a blessed day!

  9. linda

I think I am so eclectic in a scary way. Love farmhouse mixed with industrial with tads of modern and tropical thrown in for fun. Geeeesch.

  10. sheri

I so agree. I gravitated originally to this style because it’s easy to duplicate on a newlyweds’ budget – but have kept it because it soothes my soul. Vintage silver, ironstone, pine can blend well with cyrstal, silverplate and quilts. I don’t want to live in museum. i want to live in a home.

  11. Michelle

I just pulled that top picture out of the catalog yesterday. Love the colors, the arrangement…everything about it. I’ve been very disappointed by PB lately but just that picture was worth looking through.

  12. Southern Fried Gal

Great list! I love that blue wall with the black and whites – so crisp! I’m totally with you on the quilts – have always been a quilt gal. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh, wouldn’t a costal farmhouse just be the icing on the cake! Right now I’m loving all things beachy, knitting, fabrics, a clean house and happy children.

  14. gina

OH yes, those ten things hit the spot! I could move right in that place. Although the customers might look at me funny. ;)

  15. kathysue

Hi Melissa, great pictures all warm and inviting. To me there is noting prettier than a stack of freshly washed ,white fluffy towels. It is the simple things in life, isn’t it? Kathysue

  16. Vee

Now that’s some farmhouse, unlike any I’ve ever seen before! You cracked me up with your “I need a coastal farmhouse cottage.”

Ten things…I can’t even come up with one thing. Color perhaps…white gets so old.

  17. Janet

The classic white dishes and lantern lighting definately on my list.

  19. Morning T

I am 100% with you on all of those things right now. I’m working on transitioning my house right now and I love the small additions of white ironstone and neutral/natural rugs etc. Very homey and inviting. Great post!

  20. Lori H

I love all those 10 things! And I would add DIY as I am trying to be frugal while enjoying all those 10 things!

  21. Brandi Newman

I love the first picture. Coastal cottage–great!

Currently, I’m loving somethings that aren’t in great demand. some are things that I have loved for a while, others are new.

I love love love love love anything grey and white. I’m in search of grey & white striped sheets or grey and white damask sheets. Where are you? Also, in search of the perfect almost-raspberry-a-little-bit-mauve towels to go in my grey guest bathroom.
My other favorite color is lavender, but finding things that aren’t too “little girl” is a feat.

If you find any inspirations, please let me know. I’m desperate!

And of course, birds, chandeliers, sparkly, simplicty, white and black.

  22. Thea

    Presently…”these are a few of my 10 favorite things”…
yellow and gray patterns, sewing machine, chunky vases, black wooden furniture, soft cotton blankets , candles, posy hairclips,
white ceramic pitchers/dishes, puffy pillows, and random hugs!!!
.-= Thea´s last blog ..Black, White, or Green =-.

Exactly what I want! A coastal cottage farmhouse. As for my favourites ~~all of the above. Great post as always. Thanks.

  24. Shawn

I am definitely farmhouse coastal cottage, thanks for putting it in writing. Can we be all three? I love visiting your blog and enjoying all your inspirational photography and writing, thanks for taking the time to share your ideas!

  25. Missy K

Mmmmm, I love farmhouse style because of its ease, collected look, the natural elements. Lately I’m loving pinecones everywhere, candlelight, neutral rooms with splashes of color, fat pillows, creating nooks for reading, throws and texture. A silver pitcher on a wicker charger, a black French wire bread basket, ironed white dishtowels with a red stripe, lots of family photographs. . .love it.

  26. Sarah

I’m loving all these as well! I have such a problem – I love sort of rustic decor like what you have shown here but I also really love tailored, sleek, and feminine design such as vintage pieces painted a really bold color or refinished with silver leaf. Thankfully I don’t have a house of my own yet because then I would have to commit!

  27. Janell Beals

It certainly is a big trend as pottery barn seems to have embraced it to a T. I was actually quite surprised when I walked into their store to see the new offerings, to my eye it was quite a shift from the look presented the prior season. Makes me want to own a country house!

  28. jane

Great minds think alike! You are the first person to use the same verbage when refering to a “style”. I have always said that my style was “Vintage, Coastal, Farmhouse Cottage”. I love everything in your site, and can picture it in my fact, I chuckled when I saw some of your favorite Pottery Barn items. I would have chosen the exact same things. So thanks for sharing your passion for all things Coastal, Cottage and Farmhouse.
