If there is anything I love as much as a pretty kitchen, it is getting new pretty little things for the kitchen. I have that striped towel, and a growing collection of breadboards, rustic wooden spoons, and coffee mugs. I especially have a weakness when it comes to pretty cookbooks. I guess I must judge a book by its cover :-) I would totally buy a cute cookbook just because I am smitten with the cover. Yes, I do like to get inspired to cook this time of year but let’s be honest, I already bought that cookbook and I have no idea what to expect inside. I just had to have it, isn’t it cute? Plus, it’s written by a NW author and restaurant owner and her title is right my alley, too. :). And…pumpkin butter. That’s a must.

^5’s on the pretty cookbook love!
When people see my collection, they always assume I’m a great cook!
I let them go on assuming! ;-)
Meanwhile, there’s a large, double-tier hymnal rack for sale in our co-op antiques shop.
Methinks I’ll head there today + buy it for my “new kitchen hope chest” — it would look smashing hung at the end of our island, don’t you think?
Great post! I have that towel, too (West Elm?)
Ha, yes. Owning beautiful cookbooks doesn’t necessarily result in being a great cook. :-)
In the Fall (or anytime of the year) I love wooden cutting boards too, wooden kitchen utensils from Etsy artists, and copper platters and pitchers. That cup you posted is very sweet, lots of texture, begging for hot cocoa and marshmallows!
Agreed! Mmmm….. can’t wait for hot cocoa and marshmallows!!
This author was featured in the Sunday Seattle Times this weekend in the Pacific magazine. The title refers to her three restaurants; The Boat St Cafe, The Whale Wins (we’ve eaten there and it is phenomenal) and The Walrus and The Carpenter (an oyster house). Happy cooking!
Oh that’s great! I’m definitely going to go check out the restaurants. I’ll report back on my findings :-).
I am anxious to see that new cookbook in person, but feel the same way you do. I just love that cover!
Hasn’t the weather just been supreme? Such a lovely, warm, DRY, fall.
It’s PERFECTION :).
You’re getting me antsy to start with the holiday baking. Nothing like those cozy cookbooks to get us in the mood!
I love stuff for the kitchen! But I actually don’t love cooking. I’ll do it of course because we kind of get hungry around here, but I’d rather do just about anything else!
Same. :-) KINDRED SPIRITS! Ha! If I could afford a chef I totally would hire someone to move in and cook for us. :)
That would be heaven! lol
