Cottage Kitchen Inspiration
I was doing a little design research and found some pretty “cottage kitchen” pictures for my files. I thought I’d share them with you!
Even though some of these might be dream kitchens for many people, I believe you can often take bits and pieces of a dream and reinvent it in your own home. In your own little way. Yep, using your creative genius! We can’t always recreate things exactly, but you can simulate the feel, the colors, the ambience, the displays.
So, soak in a little kitchen inspiration! Enjoy!

They are all so pretty……bright and cheery. You know, I could retire to that little kitchen with the green hutch. I could see sitting at that little table eating lunch with my hubby :-) Rosie
Love the kitchens. Very inspiring as I am planning on doing something with ours this year. Tricia
The light-blue tile with the all-white kitchen is so simple and striking. Love them all!
LOVE the 2nd photo with the green hutch. I have been searching for a hutch like that for my kitchen. Someday…
Fun, fun, fun! Now my brain is all abuzz with ideas and inspiration!
I love “coastal” looking decor – so fresh and clean looking!
Oh Melissa – my favorite one is that second picture – I love it!!
White is definitely the “thing” for kitchens at the moment – actually white is the thing for everything when it comes to interiors I guess at this present time in interiors fashion history:-) Hugs

I love them all! I get Coastal Living and Cottage Living magazines and just love almost all the kitchens.
You have me considering painting my kitchen cupboards now!!! You always find the most beautiful photos to post. And the beach house is absolutely spectacular!
WOw! Your house and beach house are wonderful! And these inspiration pictures are great. I love white kitchens!
wow, talk about dream kitchens!
Melissa I am drooling over the 2nd picture, so divine!!!! And the blue splashback tiles are gorgeous in the pic further down! Each photo is so fresh, beautiful and inspiring!
All gorgeous, cannot possibly pick a favorite.
They are all beautiful, but I especially love the one from Southern Accents with the stunning blue glass tile!
I love each an every one…so tranquil :)

Yummy photos! The one thing I love about all of them is the light – they all have such great light. They looks so fresh.

I love them all but really adore the picture with the slipper chairs and the starfish pillows. Ah, that’s my dream design when we move to the coast…
See the glass balls in that picture? Anyone have any idea where I can find some like that? I might not be able to have the whole room right now, but I could add balls like that to my coffee table.

I have found the cheapest place to buy glass floats and other seaglass is on ebay. Happy Hunting!
Love all the kitchens. I have a special fondness for the ones with curvy lines.
How completely charming are they?! Even the one where there is no window above the sink ( a real no-no in my world) is adorable. And I love the swag created out of starfish… I could go on and on, but I’ll quit. Oh, love the white beadboard. No, I’m quitting for real…have a happy weekend, Melissa!
Hi Melissa,
I’m the Associate Homes Editor of Coastal Living and I just wanted to say how glad I am that our photos have inspired you! If you’re looking to create a coastal kitchen with a cottage feel, I would recommend beaded board. Whether it’s on the cabinets, walls, or ceilings, it always gives interiors a classic and comfy look. Good luck with the rest of your renovation, and please consider submitting your home to us when it’s complete. Until then, you can find more ideas for every room of the house on our website: http://www.coastalliving.com.
Those kitchens are truly beautiful….I am so sorry that it took me so long to get over here…but I wanted to say thank you…thank you…thank you for all of your wonderful birthday wishes!
Have a blessed and wonderful day!

PS…Have a great weekend too!
Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures. xo Rachel
Hmm – loving them all – I will be redoing the kitchen in the house I just bought – I am after light and bright. I think I’ll have to bookmark this post and come back to it often. Love the drop-sided table (very flexible/convenient) and I am a sucker for black and white floors – even have one in my shop (although they do show both kinds of dirt (chuckle!)
Thanks for the ideas!
They are all beautiful. I love a clean white kitchen and photo two really speaks to me.
Hello Melissa! These kitchens are all really lovely, but my favourite is the Southern Accents–so bright and breezy–reminds me of being on holiday, which is always a good thing.
Have a fantastic weekend!
These are all so beautiful. Great choices to feature. You always have the best photos!
beautiful kitchens..but I think the one by Tracey Rapsody..is my favorite..I have been a fan of her work for awhile. it is so quaint and humble…and attainable.
Ok, I am drooling! THIS is the look I LOVE! Beadboard, white, wide wood plank floors! My dream kitchen for sure! Do you think my hubby would frown if I painted our new cherry wood cabinets white? LOLOLOL till the cows come home. :)

Lovely pics – however, the second one? I am soooooo there!! It is sooooo my dream coastal kitchen! Love, Esther
What happens when you LOVE them all???
I love every single one of these pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us.

What I would give to have a kitchen like one of those, my favourite is the second one, but anyone would do for me.
Lovely photos xox
On one of the photo shoots for my book on coastal cottages, we photographed a kitchen with THE best counter surface. I described it as “A molded glass ledge, with a texturized wave pattern topped by a smooth finished aqua layer” but words could never do this thick glass that looked mysterious as the ocean justice. Good luck on YOUR coastal kitchen.
@BarbaraJacksier – Loved the book on coastal cottages!! Really want to install the aqua molded glass ledge, but have no idea where to go to get one made. Any suggestions, PLEASE let me know. Thanks!
I love these pictures! We have a heart for the sea but can’t live near the beach so we try to make our home as beachy as we can. These are great inspiration! Thanks for sharing. :)
Mandys inspiring blog post..The Inspired Room…my new happy place :)
Lovely selection of kitchens. Some of the cabinets especially are delightful. Great use of natural daylight in many of them as well.
Can anyone share the color used on the hutch in the second photo?
I have a similar hutch and would love to paint it the same color.
Thanks.

The fixtures hanging from the ceiling over the island on the left – almost look like upside down flower pot at the base – and I guess those are not lights, seem to have wine corks on display?
